English Lessons

We have been reading several information texts for our English lessons.

We were all enchanted by the Hummingbird which beats its wings so fast (about 200 times per second!) that they make a humming sound; actually this was how hummingbirds got their name!

Check out the following link to watch a short video clip on the Hummingbird:

We also read about the Giant Anteater which has a coat of coarse*, black hair on its body and a long tubular** snout***.

*coarse: rough
**tubular: tube-like
***snout: long nose

We were amazed by the fact that a Giant Anteater's tongue is about 2 feet long!

During today's lesson, we read about the Green Turtle. We were surprised to discover that the Green Turtle's neck cannot be hidden in its shell! Many of us tried to draw flippers to demonstrate the Green Turtle's feet. Click here to see an example of a diver's flippers:

Let's continue to read widely to discover more interesting facts about many amazing animals!
